Blue Loon Bakery

Blue Loon Bakery is a small bakery +cafe in the town near where my sister lives, founded in 2018.  Knowing how much I love baked goods, my sister has kindly shared some with me when she's picked up goodies for herself.
Danish of the Day. $4.50 each.
(Key Lime, Strawberry Cream Cheese).
"A flaky, buttery danish.  This month we have a key lime pie Danish filled with fresh lime curd and a cheese Danish swirled with fresh jam."

The danishes for the month of June were strawberry cream cheese and key lime, and I was able to try both (even though the later is a flavor I don't tend to care for).  They both used the same laminated base, which was decent, but not spectacular - the layers came apart easily but it wasn't particularly flaky, and the base flavor wasn't particularly buttery.  Average quality, about on par with a decent hotel breakfast buffet, not quite what I'd expect from a real bakery.  ***.

The key lime pie danish had a good amount of key lime curd in the middle.  Very tangy.  Pretty standard key lime, as expected, not my favorite.  The strawberry cream cheese filling was even more generous, lots of the cream cheese filling that was nicely sweetened, rich and luxurious, with a bit of jam to brighten it up.  I really enjoyed the filling, and it made me wish I had a slice of cheesecake made from it!  *** key lime filling, ***+ strawberry cream cheese.

Overall, I think these were probably very good for the local area, but not on par with the level of bakery I am used to.  I had no problem finishing mine, but I wouldn't seek them out.
