Asher's Chocolates

Asher's Chocolates is a chocolate company that has been making chocolate since 1892.  However, they don't really focus on the chocolate as the highlight of their products, but rather, things they can coat with it.  Asher's makes a large number of chocolate dipped products, ranging from snacks like graham or animal crackers, to pretzels, to even potato chips, to more classic chocolate covered items like caramels, mints, and peanut butter cups.
"At Asher’s Chocolates, we understand that one of life’s sweetest pleasures is a simple box of chocolate. Asher’s is a family-owned and operated business, and we’ve been making our fine chocolate and other classic confections for over four generations. Just like Chester Asher did, we use the freshest and finest ingredients around, and that has lead to us sticking to the same recipes for over 100 years! Did you know we have one of the largest lines of Sugar Free chocolates in the country? Shop online today and taste the difference of Asher’s!"
They focus primary on mail-order gifts it seems, including gift baskets of all kinds.

My mother received some Asher's Chocolate products in a gift basket, and I of course volunteered to "test" them out.  I was pleased to discover slightly higher quality than average chocolate coated snacks, particularly as I do love chocolate.

Pretzels

"Asher’s Chocolate Covered Pretzels come in all shapes, flavors and sizes. Whether your favorite is milk, white or dark chocolate covered, we have a pretzel rod, mini pretzel or regular sized pretzel to fulfill your cravings. Looking for Sugar Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels? We’ve got them too! These chocolate covered delights are definitely an Asher’s family favorite."
Asher's makes pretzels, coated in chocolate, in a slew of varieties.  Different sizes (mini, standard, large, rods, pieces, snowflakes ...), with different coatings (white, milk, dark, sprinkles), in a variety of packaging styles (little cellophane bags, bigger bags, tins, caddies, mixes, gift boxes, pails, etc).   The vast array is impressive, really.

I tried only the fairly basic items my mom had, but I would love to try the "Keystone Crunch", a mix with salted popcorn and nuts and pretzels covered on toffee, or, the milk chocolate "boardwalk crunch", basically a milk chocolate bark with popcorn, marshmallows, nuts, and pretzels.
ASSORTED CHOCOLATE PRETZELS
MILK, DARK AND WHITE CHOCOLATE.
"The crispy snap of a lightly salted pretzel mixed with the ‘mmm’ of delicious chocolate does not get better than this Chocolate Covered Pretzel Assortment. Our chocolate pretzel assortment comes packaged nicely in our original chocolate smothered pretzel gift-wrap and is the perfect gift for any occasion. This assortment contains milk, dark and white chocolate."

I actually really love chocolate (and white chocolate) coated pretzels, but often they come only in mini form.  I was excited to see this collection was all large size pretzels.

White chocolate pretzels are actually usually my favorite (the sweet and salty combo just gets me!), so I was saddened to see that only one of the five wells was filled with white chocolate pretzels, and, it was only two deep!  Only two white chocolate pretzels total, when each of the other wells contained 4 pretzels, and thus, 8 each of milk and dark chocolate.

The pretzels themselves were good, higher quality than your standard pretzels, not stale, good crisp crunch to them.  All varieties were well coated with plenty of chocolate to really taste it.

The white chocolate version I indeed enjoyed, and wished the box provided a more generous portion.  I found it odd that was the one they skimped on, isn't white chocolate usually pretty cheap?

The dark chocolate coated pretzels were also good, decent quality dark chocolate, although certainly of the sweeter style like a Hershey's Special Dark if you know what I mean.  The milk chocolate ones were fairly average creamy milk chocolate, and again decent pretzel underneath.

Overall, all above average, **** for the white chocolate versions, ***+ for the others.
Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bites.
"We dare you to just eat one of these! Asher’s Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bites are the perfect snack when you’re craving something both salty and sweet. These bite size treats are great as after school treats or as an after dinner snack. Just pop one in your mouth and enjoy!"

Next, I tried the pretzel bites, all dark chocolate coated.

I really liked the pretzel bite form, bigger than a single bite (unless you wanted to take a REALLY big bite!).  Quite munchable, and I can see easily eating this entire container in one sitting if not careful!

The pretzel and dark chocolate quality in the bites seemed the same as the bigger pretzels, better than average, fresh, crisp, well coated.  I liked the assorted pretzels box more, just so I could pick the variety based on what I wanted at the time, but these were tasty treats as well.

***+.
